I don't think it matters what the gender of the poster is. I think the real question is- did these wadded panties have the confederate flag on them? Please, can we lighted up and read the responses to posts correctly? Don, I'll back you up- it wa…

LAST EDITED ON 04-25-03 AT 03:32PM (CST)[p]I agree with D-T-M. Stick with what you got, unless you have a really compelling reason. You obviously thought the first person was quailified enough to offer the job…

I'm sure you have better and more important things to do with your valuable time than to track down someone's resume off the web and see what they're about. We are not fish nipping at the bait of a cover letter to see who we can hire. They should b…

If it's permanent resident card that has an expiration date it does not need to be reverified and it shouldn't be reverified. If it's a temporary resident card- that must be reverified after the expiration date. Hope that helps.

Ditto Don's post. Don't do it.

I was wondering about your double post Don for the other topic. I thought you did it on purpose to kill 2 birds with 1 post. It did fit the situation accordingly.

Do you have any documentation of the mutual agreement requiring him to get the license? I don't think decreasing his pay is illegal, but you should double check your state law or check with an attorney. It seems he is not living up to his end of th…

Jimlegal, You don't allow friends to be hired either? We allow friends and relatives to be hired, in fact we encourage it with referral programs. If they are related however they can't work in the same department or under the same supervisor. It …

I don't believe this is an illegal question either. I think it's illegal for the respondent to answer the question with false information however.

Now, now, I think you may be a little hard on the CFO. Clearly he's simply throwing a temper tantrum like a two year old does when he doesn't get his way. No, nevermind, it's clearly lunacy. Don, don't forget to update your profile and remove yo…

Don D is right. Just want to add that the cameras can only record video and not audio too. I'd say I'm about 99.78% it was an inside job.

Of course it should be investigated further. I failed to mention that in my first post, I just assumed that would be the first course of action as it usually is. There could be a slight possibility that it was accidental. If he says that it was a…

Does your company policy address internet and computer usage regarding this? If not you should probably develop one quickly. As for this person I would address the situation immediately with them. You might not have been the only one to accidently…

On the left side of this website is Employment Law News and Advice, underneath is the section for National News. It's the article referring to High Court will determine rehire obligations.

While discussing salary with co-workers is protected activity, I don't think discussing potential salary is protected. According to the original post there was no salary discussed with the ee yet. She was talking to co-workers about what she expec…

$20 bucks will get you a few cheesesteaks won't it? Mmmmmmmmm...cheesesteaks. I know what I'm having for lunch today.

Even though you said that these functions are "outside of work" I'm assuming that they are still work related otherwise why are you reimbursing at all. It's not unreasonable for a business to have a per diem for expenses. The very purpose of a per …

peco, that was me in your "her nose is growing" post! I'm glad to see you remembered it. It fits for this situation too. I keep a full supply of get well cards in my office.

Anyway, she got miffed because she didn't receive the >raise, so she suddenly said she was sick and left. >Her job description states that 'above average dependability is >essential and required in regards to attendance and tardiness fo…

Ditto the above posts. My company has produced targeted ads for retirees before, but they also had a diverse range of other ads. I think that is the key. The ads shouldn't be solely addressed to retirees or mature people.

Ditto the above post. Is your state "at-will". If so that might make a difference. I also wouldn't be surprised if the ee files for UI and wins. But the main thing is to stay consistent. If you know of other ee's that interviewed elsewhere and it…

What does your workplace violence policy say? You have a policy but it's meaningless if you don't abide by it. And if the kitchen staff are the people determining your disciplinary process I'd be looking for another job too. They don't want him fi…

Congrats Don! Your new company is very fortunate to have you on their team. I know you won't be gone too long. I do not envy those Forum Withdrawl symptoms that you will be faced with. The constant wondering of new postings, the involuntary typin…

I think that there's more to the story that you need to find out. If they all want to quit but they don't want anything done to the super, then why do they want to quit? I think you should have the meeting with them and the president and find out w…

I agree with jimlegal. You need a handbook, not only to hold the ee's accountable but also to hold the CEO accountable. Otherwise you end up with him making up policies "willy-nilly" (like he's doing now) which is going to get you all in trouble. …

Wow, I didn't realize Hatchetman was psychic too! There's not even a post on here! I'm curious as to what the situation was too. And Don, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that likes to check out the forum on the weekends. I'm still working on …

Gang bangers aren't a protected class yet. Give CA a couple more years though. I'm sure you could find more of a reason not to hire than simply going by their appearance. Whenever I hear someone dressed like that say "I can't find a job, it's th…

I was under the impression that the ee was the only one working this alternate work schedule due to medical reasons. CA is over 8 or over 40 as Hatchetman stated, but I don't know how that works when it's due to medical accomodations. You might have…
